Your duty as a business owner to keep your customers and employees safe has never been more serious. Thankfully, there are many tools such as flap tags to make sure that everyone stays healthy, and you can use them to label these issues and tools related to safety.
Hazardous Chemicals
Even if you don’t run a manufacturing plant, you probably have a lot of hazardous chemicals in your building. These include cleaning supplies such as bleach and strong glues or epoxy. List the active ingredients in each dangerous fluid and note whether it is an acid or a base in case it spills. Include the safety precautions that people should take when they use it. For example, are gloves sufficient, or should users wear protective eyewear, too? Then, put the information inside an EVERCLEAR® flap tag to keep it legible and dry.
Allergens
Labeling allergens is important if you and your employees share food, but allergens can be non-food items as well. Common irritants include the following:
- Latex
- Chemicals found in unwashed cloth
- Perfumes used in soaps and creams
Ask your new employees to share their known allergies with you so you can limit their exposure. Since not everyone is aware of their allergies, use an EVERCLEAR® flap tag to alert people to the presence of common ones.
Biohazards
A biohazard is anything contaminated with human or animal waste. Most offices contain the following biohazards:
- Sewage
- Used menstrual products
- Hypodermic needles
During the novel coronavirus pandemic, items such as used paper towels and face masks also count as biohazards. Use an EVERCLEAR® flap tag to show people where to deposit their biohazards, particularly if this is a different receptacle than a normal trash can.
Safety Tools
Tools such as Epi-pens, automated external defibrillators and fire extinguishers save lives, but only if you know how to operate them. You can teach your employees how to use these items, but it’s easy to become overwhelmed and forgetful in the middle of a crisis. For each life-saving instrument your office owns, list the steps needed to safely use it, and remind users to call 911 before they do anything else. Attach these instructions to their corresponding tools using an EVERCLEAR® flap tag.
Flammable Materials
Almost every material is flammable to some extent, but certain items are much more likely to catch on fire than others. These include objects made out of wood, sawdust or paper, or chemicals that contain ethanol or benzene. Use an EVERCLEAR® flap tag to remind your employees to be careful when working with or near these items, particularly if they are using open flames or lots of heat. This also prevents new employees from underestimating the safety hazards in their work zones.
As you try to keep everyone safe at your workplace, you need to worry about COVID-19 regulations and more mundane hazards. In case you forget to remind someone about a potential danger, your written warnings in flap tags help prevent accidents.
